As word of the Joe Flacco trade from the Baltimore Ravens to the Denver Broncos continues to spread, a few dissenting voices are starting to rise, too.

While Flacco has been a bit of a superstar for a while, his star has been tarnished as of late. Last season, he lost his starting job to rookie Lamar Jackson who ended up starting the Ravens only playoff game this season.

John Elway has come under fire for picking up players in the twilight of their careers. That's exactly what he did with Peyton Manning, after all, and it won the team a Super Bowl.

But that said, former Broncos player Elvis Dumervil told TMZ Sports that Joe Flacco is not Manning, and his hiring is not going to go the same way the Manning hire did.

“It's a big gamble. Definitely desperate, no doubt … It can be a great deal, or it can be another bad decision by John Elway. [Elway] did a genius move with Peyton Manning. But unfortunately, Joe Flacco is no Peyton Manning.”

That said, this may all be a ploy for Dumervil to get some much-needed press since he hasn't gotten much since he's no longer on the field.

Remember, too, that there can be no official comment from the league about the Flacco trade until next month, so everything we know from here is pure speculation. Still, it will remain to be seen if this is indeed a good move on their part, or if Elway made yet another mistake.
