The future of wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders with the Denver Broncos has gotten a bit more uncertain this offseason. Despite still having two more years on his deal, Sanders’ contract is no longer guaranteed, which has made him a candidate to get cut. The Broncos also picked up a couple of young receivers-and potential Sanders replacements-in Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton in the draft.

But even before those factors came into play this year, Sanders says he’s always considered his NFL career on a year-to-year basis, and that he’ll have the mentality of trying to prove himself to whichever team he’s on.

“I always play like that, like it’s always year-to-year. I got something to prove this year and if I don’t prove it to the Broncos, then I’ll be proving it to some other team,” Sanders said per Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. “But at the end of the day, God willing, I stay healthy, I’ll be in the NFL next year as well. That’s the goal. I don’t worry about what team. I’m working for the Denver Broncos this year and I’m going to do my best to try to bring a Super Bowl (trophy) to this city.”

Sanders is coming off easily the worst season of his four-year stay with the Broncos in 2017. After battling through injuries for most of the year, he ended up with just 47 catches for 555 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games.

But despite that down year, the Broncos have decided to keep him around (for now) and give him the chance to prove himself again this season. If he transforms back into the highly-productive 1,000-yard receiver he was in his first three seasons with Denver, new quarterback Case Keenum will have quite a receiving weapon at his disposal in his debut season with the Broncos.
