Emmanuel Sanders has been working typically hard to be ready for the start of the regular season after suffering a major injury in 2018. With training camp just a day away, though, the Denver Broncos star still hasn't quite fully recovered.

Sanders told The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala on Tuesday that he won't be “full-go” for the beginning of training camp and is unsure whether he'll participate in Wednesday's conditioning test. The goal, however, remains the same: to be active and ready to go come his team's season-opener on September 9 against the Oakland Raiders.

Sanders suffered a torn Achilles tendon on December 5 during practice. The Broncos immediately confirmed he was done for the remainder of the season, placing the 32-year-old on injured reserve. He’s spent a lot of time at team facilities this offseason despite not being cleared for any training or on-field work with his teammates.

In early June, Sanders posted a video on Instagram of himself running hard-cutting routes at full speed, leading to speculation he would quickly be given a clean bill of health. He began sprinting at full capacity and making aggressive lateral movements a couple weeks earlier.

Sanders signed a three-year, $15 million deal with the Broncos in March 2015 after beginning his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He quickly emerged as one of most reliable receivers in football from there, signing a lucrative extension with Denver the following spring. In just 12 games played last season, Sanders caught 71 passes for 868 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Broncos in each category.
