The Denver Broncos are slated to square off against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3 of the preseason. It appears they will have one of their more notable names on deck tonight in wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

Sanders has spent the offseason recovering from a ruptured Achilles he suffered in December of the 2018 NFL season. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, he is ready to make his return against the 49ers:

Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders will play in a game tonight for the first time since tearing his Achilles at the Dec. 5 practice, and he will start, per source. Sanders will be introduced with Denver’s starters tonight pregame, run out of the tunnel, and be on field for first O snap.

There had been plenty of doubt cast on Sanders upon suffering the injury as many questions whether or not the 32-year-old would be able to make a comeback. It was also revealed that he underwent surgery to repair a lingering injury on his ankle as well. He is now ready to prove the doubters wrong a mere eight months later.

Although Sanders is expected to make his preseason debut, it will likely be short-lived with the first-team offense. Denver's priority at this point is likely staying as healthy as possible for the start of the 2019 NFL season.

The Broncos will be relying heavily on their tandem of Sanders and Courtland Sutton to hold down the receiving corps for quarterback Joe Flacco. While their relationship may have suffered a setback during training camp, it appears there are no hard feelings within the group.

The veteran will be looking to pick up where he left off when he finished the 2018 campaign with 71 receptions for 868 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 12 games.
