Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco parted ways with the only team he knew in unceremonious fashion this offseason. General manager John Elway is confident that he can end his career with a bang.

Flacco will have an opportunity to show he still has plenty left in the tank following his departure from the Baltimore Ravens. According to Chad Jensen pf 247 Sports, Elway is hoping he can end his career on a high note:

“I think Joe realizes the situation he’s sitting in again with the reputation of this organization for a long period of time,” Elway said on Wednesday. “I think Joe knows coming in here that he’s going to have a chance to finish it out right.”

The Broncos ushered in some significant changes this offseason. They essentially swapped out quarterback Case Keenum for Flacco before bringing in their potential, future franchise quarterback in Drew Lock through the 2019 NFL Draft. There is a vested interest in both sides to aim for a resurgence in 2019.

Elway found himself in familiar territory when he saw a former Super Bowl MVP hit the market with a chip on their shoulder. He struck gold on his first attempt with the signing of Peyton Manning several years ago. He is hoping that Flacco can emulate the same type of success Manning enjoyed to finish off his career.

Of course, this will be much easier said than done for the Broncos. They are coming off a disappointing 2018 campaign and have given little reason to believe they will be Super Bowl-bound in 2019. Regardless, Flacco will have a solid opportunity to redeem himself in Denver.
