Joe Flacco hasn't had all that long to get to know his Denver Broncos teammates. It was only a few months ago that the veteran signal-caller was acquired by Denver in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens, the only team he'd ever played for in a career that had already spanned 11 seasons. But as the Broncos begin training camp this week, it's clear Flacco has already grown close with one of his new team's best players.

When describing the boundless enthusiasm of second-year running back Phillip Lindsay, Flacco compared him to one of his children.

“Phillip, he's like one of my kids,” Flacco said, per James Palmer of NFL Network. “I don’t know where he gets all the energy, but he has it 24/7.”

All that energy sure paid off for Lindsay as a rookie, when he quietly emerged as not just one of the league's best stories, but also one of its most dangerous playmakers. Undrafted out of Colorado last year, the 5-foot-8 speedster rushed for 1,037 yards and and nine touchdowns last season, ranking third in the league – and first among 1,000-yard rushers – by averaging 5.3 yards per carry. He was a factor in the passing game, too, with 35 catches for 241 yards and a score.

The Broncos are talented at the skill positions, but lack the singular star who consistently makes life easier for his teammates. If Lindsay takes another step forward in 2019, proving he's not a one-season wonder, it will go a long way toward ensuring Flacco's debut campaign in Denver is successful.
