Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco is expected to miss four to six weeks due to a neck injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. However, he will not need surgery, pending reviews from two doctors, Dr. Robert Williams in Los Angeles and Dr. Jack Kelley in Connecticut.

Denver confirmed that Flacco would miss Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. The team has not issued an official period of how long he will be out, nor have they placed him on the injured reserve. Many expect him to miss the rest of the 2019 season after a poor first-half.

“Everything is still on the table with Joe,” coach Vic Fangio said on Thursday, per ESPN. “We can leave him on the 53[-man roster] and wait a while, or we could IR him. We'll make that decision here in the next couple days… By the end of the week I think we'll have a better understanding, after getting all of the medical advice, going over it, what plan we'll take long term.”

The Broncos announced that Brandon Allen would be starting in-place of Flacco. Allen signed with the Broncos during the offseason after previously spending time with the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars selected him in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Arkansas.

There is a possibility that Denver inserts rookie Drew Lock into the starting lineup while Flacco is out. However, the second-round pick hailing from Missouri is still on the injured reserve, though he is eligible to return.
