The Denver Broncos might have a bit of an issue with their backup quarterback spot, and John Elway hasn't ruled out bringing in a another veteran to back up Case Keenum. Elway was asked about bringing in Colin Kaepernick, and he made it very clear that ship has sailed and he is no longer an option.

“Colin had his chance here. We offered him a contract. He didn’t take it. So, As I said it in my deposition, I don’t know if i’ll be legally able to say this, but he’s had his chance to be here. He passed it”

In 2016, the Broncos had a lot of interest in Kaepernick and tried to work out a trade with the San Francisco 49ers to get him. The Broncos wanted to drop down his guaranteed money from $11.9 million to $7 million, either with Kaepernick taking a pay cut or the 49ers agreeing to take back part of the salary.

The two sides met twice face-to-face trying to figure out a way to get a deal done, but it never worked out with Kaepernick reportedly refusing to decrease his salary. Instead, Kaepernick was cut and hasn't been in the league since, and the Broncos are still trying to figure out their quarterback situation, at least in terms of who will be the backup with the addition of Case Keenum as the unquestioned starter.

Elway didn't say who he is considering bringing in, but an option could be Teddy Bridgewater. The Jets have a crowded quarterback room and for the right price, he might be available via trade.
