Denver Broncos general manager and president of football operations John Elway has made quite a few big-time splashes this offseason while most notably adding former Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon to the mix.

Although signing Gordon, who was an unrestricted free agent this offseason, created a slew of headlines throughout the country, there were also conversations being had regarding the future of fellow Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay, who will now obviously be forced to split time in the backfield with the Denver newcomer.

Nonetheless, Elway has since noted that the team will see what happens with Lindsay going forward as the former undrafted rusher has provided the Broncos with some serious production since originally breaking into the professional ranks of the NFL a few years back. Obviously, it still remains to be seen as to whether or not Lindsay has a long-term future in Denver due to the presence of Gordon.

“I’ve talked to Phillip’s agent and we’ll see what happens and what we can do later on,” Elway recently said, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. “That’s not a guarantee either way, but we’ll see what we can do later on.”

It is also worth noting that Lindsay’s agent, Mike McCartney, told the aforementioned Jhabvala that he had a “very good conversation” with Elway.

At the same time, he continues to hope that “the Broncos will do right by a player who has not only exceeded expectations on the field but embodies everything about the culture they’re trying to build over there.”
