There has been plenty of speculation regarding the Denver Broncos ongoing contract negotiations with cornerback Chris Harris. The signing of safety Kareem Jackson this offseason only raised more questions regarding Denver's plans.

Jackson's three-year deal has coincided with Harris' desire for a new long-term extension. According to Mike Klis of KUSA, the former does not feel his deal has an effect on the other.

“At the end of the day, it’s a business,” Jackson said. “Obviously, he wants to get paid to have some type of stability so he can take care of himself and his family. The rest of the guys, we just have to work accordingly. If he’ll be here, we’d definitely love him to be here. But we understand it’s a business and sometimes things happen that we all may not want to happen.”

It is safe to say that Jackson finds himself in a rather precarious position. While he is undoubtedly a solid addition to the secondary, there are those that feel a decision should have made on Harris' future beforehand. There is now concern that Jackson's $11 million annual salary will have an impact on the star corner's deal.

Harris has been one of the best players at his position for quite some time now as a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro. There is no question that he is certainly deserving of a lucrative extension. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether or not a new deal is in the books for Denver this offseason.
