The league has been forced to take unprecedented action ahead of the 2020 NFL season with the restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson is among those that are skeptical of when it is safe to reopen.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding the potential timeline of the season. According to Nicki Jhabvala if The Athletic, Jackson is hoping that the NFL will err on the side of caution:

“I just think for us, it doesn't make sense to play games until it's completely, 100% safe for us to go out there.”

Jackson's comments are certainly understandable considering all that has transpired in recent months with the global pandemic. The onus will fall on the league's front office to ensure that player safety is a top priority in their efforts for a return to action.

Commissioner Roger Goodell has been adamant about maintaining the current start time of the 2020 campaign. There have already been talks about the NFL cancelling all of its international games and they may very well have to prepare for the prospect of playing without any fans in attendance at the stadiums, for the Broncos and everyone else.

The restrictions due to the ongoing pandemic have prevented players from proceeding with their usual offseason workouts. Jackson is hoping to spark a potential resurgence following a disappointing year for the Broncos at 7-9. Fortunately, the veteran will have some help serving as a stabilizing factor in the secondary with the arrival of former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye.
