Former Denver Broncos guard Mark Schlereth spent six seasons in the Mile High City so he is pretty well connected with things inside the organization.

There has been a lot of talk about if John Elway is still the answer at general manager, and while appearing on Speak For Yourself on FS1, Schlereth made his thoughts pretty clear about the state of the Broncos.

ā€œDo I trust him to fix what's gone wrong? No! This football team lacks depth, they lack talent, they lack grit, they lack toughness. They haven't had an offensive line that's worth a squirt of urine in 5 years.ā€

One of the players that Schlereth brings up Garrett Bolles who was selected in the first round in the 2017 draft. Bolles has struggled and Schlereth thinks the only reason he is still playing is that Elway is afraid to admit he made a bad draft choice.

ā€œYou think you can continue to run him out and not every guy in that locker roomā€™s pissed off? Why is he on this team? Why is he playing?ā€ Schlereth said. ā€œBecause he was my first-round pick and Iā€™m going to prove I got it right.ā€

The Broncos haven't made the playoffs since Peyton Manning retired and at some point, people besides the coaches need to be held accountable. So when will the Broncos decide it's time to move on from their Elway and go in a different direction.

If it wasn't for Elway being a Hall of Fame quarterback for the organization it is a good guess that the team would have already moved on.
