Reports have just emerged about Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon being charged by the local police for DUI and speeding. The 27-year-old was reportedly cited by Denver Police on Tuesday.

This report comes via Mike Klis of 9News:

Broncos running back Melvin Gordon was cited late Tuesday with driving under the influence by the Denver Police Department, court and police documents show.

Gordon was also ticketed for speeding between 25 mph and 39 mph over the limit at 5th Avenue and Speer Boulevard. He is expected to be arraigned in Denver County Court on Friday, Nov. 13. The Broncos leave the next day for a game against the Raiders in Las Vegas.

Following the reports, the Broncos released a statement on Melvin Gordon's arrest:

No further details have been provided regarding Gordon's citation, but we will be passing along any new information as they come.

Gordon is coming off one of his best games for the Broncos, following the team's 37-28 victory over the New York Jets in Week 4. The 27-year-old scored a 43-yard touchdown late in the game to help cement the win for Denver. Gordon rushed 23 times for 107 yards throughout the contest, which marked his first 100-yard outing for his team.

Thanks in part to Gordon's strong play, the Broncos notched their first win of the season, after losing its first three games of the campaign.

They are slated to take on the New England Patriots in Week 6, and it remains to be seen if Gordon will be available for that one.
