Melvin Gordon chose to remain in the AFC West in free agency, inking a deal with Denver Broncos. Since he signed the contract with the Broncos, Gordon says that he's received a warm welcome from his new teammates.

“The running backs coach [Curtus Modkins] talked to me, I actually [also] talked to the offensive coordinator [Pat Shurmur] today,” Gordon told Cowherd on Monday. “I reached out to Drew [Lock], I [already know] Von [Von Miller]. Phillip Lindsay hit me up.”

Before joining the Broncos in free agency, Gordon spent his first five seasons with Denver's division rival, the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite his affiliation with the Chargers, the members of the Broncos seem to be on board with Gordon joining the roster.

This past season was quite a rollercoaster ride for Gordon and the Chargers. At the beginning of training camp, Gordon chose to holdout in hopes he could land a new extension with the team that drafted him in 2015.

But after Los Angeles refused to give him a contract that exceeded $10 million annually, Gordon ended his holdout and returned to the team in Week 4. Now, with the Broncos, Gordon took a two-year, $16 million deal to get a chance to play the Chargers twice a year.

As a matter of fact, it was reported that Gordon had another offer that was worth more than the contract he got from the Broncos. Nevertheless, he was enticed by the idea of getting to play his former team more often. At the least, Gordon's new teammates appear to have his back moving forward.
