Melvin Gordon is excited to be with the Denver Broncos because he feels like they play to his strengths, something that he doesn't feel like happened with the Los Angeles Chargers.

In five seasons with the Chargers, Gordon had over 6,100 total yards from scrimmage, but he feels like he could have been even better.

The comments by Gordon don't seem like shots at the Chargers, but rather that he is just excited for his new opportunity in a new city and new offense:

“It really didn't play out to my strengths, especially the first couple years there,” Gordon told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on the Rapsheet + Friends Podcast . “I kind of just had to adjust and make it work. It kind of wasn't a system built for me. But I feel like Denver kinda runs my style of football, and I think it's a great fit.”

With Pat Shurmur now in charge of the Broncos offense, they have brought in Gordon because they feel like he is a great fit for the offense they want to have in place.

Shurmur likes to use a lot of inside run plays, something that Gordon did a lot during his days with the Wisconsin Badgers:

“They run a lot of inside zones, and that's what I did a lot at Wisconsin,” Gordon said. “It's going to really help me get back in the feel of what I do best. I'm an inside-zone runner.”

Gordon and Phillip Lindsay could be one of the best 1-2 punches in all of football. If Drew Lock takes another step forward, the Broncos offense could be one of the best in the AFC.
