Needless to say, new Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon is quite pleased with his team's draft decisions this past weekend.

The Broncos prioritized skill position guys by selecting Alabama receiver Jerry Jeudy and Penn Sate wideout K.J. Hamler in the first two rounds. But they also added some beef to the offensive line, drafting LSU center Lloyd Cushenberry in the third round.

Gordon chimed in, saying “RBs love O-lineman.”

In the sixth round, the Broncos drafted Fresno State guard Netane Muti, sending Gordon to the film room. Gordon must have liked what he saw, because he gave Muti his personal stamp of approval on Twitter Saturday morning.

Denver's draft strategy clearly centered on adding weapons and protection for second-year quarterback Drew Lock, but Gordon might stand to benefit from a deeper offensive line.

The Broncos signed Gordon to a two-year, $16 million deal in free agency, and he will hope to provide some thunder of his own alongside backfield mate Phillip Lindsay.

Gordon had a tough year in 2019. He held out at the beginning of the season hoping for an extension from the Los Angeles Chargers. Instead, the Chargers were comfortable starting the season with Austin Ekeler as their feature back, and Gordon was forced to end his holdout.

The Wisconsin product returned in Week 5, but he had an underwhelming season after being named to the Pro Bowl in 2008. Gordon averaged just 3.8 yards per carry and tallied just over 908 yards from scrimmage, his lowest in each category since his rookie season.

But the Broncos are hoping Gordon can revert to his 2018 form, and the 27-year-old seems motivated to put in work for his new squad.
