The Denver Broncos have made their choice to replace Vic Fangio as head coach, and it's Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. This will certainly raise eyebrows around the NFL given the Broncos made a push to trade for Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers last offseason and will surely do so again if Rodgers wants to go elsewhere.

Via NFL.com's Kevin Patra:

Hackett has been endorsed by Rodgers multiple times for head coaching jobs. The connection between the new coach and QB will launch a new round of Rodgers-to-Denver rumors. If the MVP QB decides to force his way out of Green Bay with a trade demand, the Broncos make a lot of sense as a landing spot. Denver has a playoff-caliber roster, with weapons galore on offense and a burgeoning secondary, outside needing a quarterback.

The Broncos settled on Teddy Bridgewater as a veteran stopgap last offseason after failing to get Rodgers, but they could very well get another opportunity here. Rodgers is going to take some time to make a decision after the Packers' stunning loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round. While Rodgers reportedly patched things up with the higher-ups in Green Bay, this latest playoff failure could see him look for a new home.

Going to a team that needs a quarterback and that now has a familiar face as the head coach would make a lot of sense. Denver also has a roster that's ready-made for a playoff run, so it's not like Rodgers would be going to a rebuilding situation. The Broncos started 7-6 in 2021 but fell off at the end of the season when Bridgewater got hurt and youngster Drew Lock was forced into duty.

Stay tuned for the next chapter of the Aaron Rodgers saga. Perhaps the Denver Broncos will actually wind up with their man this time.
