Noah Fant's trade to the Seattle Seahawks offers him a new start. He emerged as one of the best tight ends in the league with the Denver Broncos. But based on his experience working in their offense, the trade to Seattle may have been desirable to him.

On the radio show Stokley and Zach, Fant explained that his game is predicated on getting downfield and making big plays. The Broncos used him in shorter routes and made him work more like a slot receiver, which frustrated him.

“And over my time in Denver, I felt like that narrative kind of got muddled down a little bit. It was more of a focus of me catching flat balls or whatever it may be, and then trying to be a shifty guy and elusive guy and try to break as many tackles possible to get my yards. I view myself as a downfield threat, getting open space, then I can make things happen. It was a little frustrating being used in the short field.”

Denver misusing Fant and having mediocre-at-best quarterback play sunk their chances at making the playoffs last season despite having a very strong defense. Having Russell Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett might have given Fant the opportunity he wants but Seattle sought his services and he was traded, along with other players and picks, in exchange for the star quarterback.

Unfortunately, Fant now finds himself in a Seahawks offense that has come under fire for being too restrictive. The team's quarterback situation is less than ideal and they already have two strong pass catchers in D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Still, Fant has the talent to be one of the best at his position for a while.
