The Denver Broncos' acquisition of former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco this offseason came with its fair share of mixed reviews. It appears on anonymous head coach feels there is more to the trade than people give Denver credit for, given what he told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

There is not much hype surrounding the Broncos trade for Flacco. However, Schefter said one head coach feels they got him at a bargain price, via the team's Youtube channel:

“I spoke to one head coach after that trade was made, an opposing head coach, and he said that the Broncos ‘stole' Joe Flacco. His word, not mine. ‘Stole.' And that he will turn out to be the exact quarterback they needed.”

The prospect of Flacco being considered a steal at this point in his career is certainly a bit far-fetched. Despite being a career starter, he has never managed to earn even a single trip to the Pro Bowl. Regardless, it is clear that the veteran still garners respect from coaches around the league.

Although Flacco may be well past his prime, he is still one of the few proven starting quarterbacks in the league. There are a number of teams that have gone years without a competent starter under center. The Broncos managed to get one in exchange for just a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Of course, only time will tell if the anonymous comments prove to be true. Flacco could get a head start on vindicating the deal by potentially leading Denver back to postseason contention.
