It’s safe to say Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch has not lived up to expectations. The former first-round pick in 2016 has gone from being a potential future franchise quarterback to possibly being out of the league in just a few short years.

Ahead of what will likely be an important “career crossroads” next season, Lynch has reportedly been working with Tom Brady’s trainer, Alex Guerrero, to get him in shape and prepare for battle, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Guerrero, who helped Brady develop the TB12 Method which has apparently been a key factor to Brady’s incredible longevity, is the “body coach” and business partner of the Patriots quarterback.

However, his unorthodox methods have been met with some criticism in some circles. He was also an important character in the much-publicized ESPN story about unrest within the Pats’, with Bill Belichick reportedly concerned by Guerrero’s role within the team. (Belichick has since denied those reports and says he has a good relationship with Guerrero.)

Guerrero will now be tasked with getting Lynch in the best shape possible ahead of the season to help him win his the starting quarterback spot from Case Keenum, whom the Broncos signed this offseason.

Although, Lynch will need more than peak physical condition to win the Broncos’ starting job. For one, he still hasn’t shown that he’s got the mental side of being an NFL-caliber QB down. In his four career starts, he has gone just 1-3, completing 79 of 128 passes for 792 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.

It’ll take much more than Brady’s personal trainer to pick up those other attributes he needs to be a legit starter.
