The Denver Broncos used the 20th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to select tight end Noah Fant. It is easy to see why Denver was so enamored with Fant considering how effective he was at Iowa.

Fant established himself as one of the most electrifying tight ends in college football. According to Pro Football Focus, quarterbacks saw plenty of success when throwing to him last season:

The decision to select Noah Fant in the first round came with its fair share of mixed reviews. Regardless, there is no question the move made plenty of sense for the Broncos. Denver has ushered in some significant changes this offseason in an attempt to get back into playoff contention. Quarterback Joe Flacco is going to need as many weapons as possible if he hopes to lead a resurgence next season.

The Broncos were seemingly satisfied with the state of their receiver corps. Instead, they turned their attention to getting the most talented tight end in the draft. Aside from his success at Iowa, Fant established himself as the best prospect at his position with a stellar performance in the NFL Scouting Combine. His rare combination of size and speed was clearly too much for Denver to pass up.

It is safe to say that Fant will have an opportunity to etch out an integral role on offense as Flacco's safety net underneath. The Broncos are hoping he will continue to make the most of his targets as he did in college.
