The Denver Broncos relied heavily on their rookie class to help get them through the 2018 NFL season. It appears running back Phillip Lindsay is among the notable second-year players that are feeling an added sense of pressure.

It is no secret that Denver has ushered in a bit of a youth movement in recent years. According to Nicki Jhabvala of The Atheltic, Lindsay admits there is an obligation to kick things up a notch in the 2019 NFL season:

“Sometimes I think back and I’m like, ‘Dang, this is surreal,’ and sometimes I think back and say, ‘You know, I’ve been working hard for this moment,’” Lindsay told reporters at the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame banquet last week. “Now it’s about maintaining it. It’s about keeping it up. Everybody loves you when you’re doing well, but when you start falling off, you’re a scumbag. I just have to keep going.”

Lindsay's comments are certainly understandable. Several of the Broncos rookies were asked to make an immediate impact on both sides of the ball amidst all the changes that were made last offseason. Fortunately, players like Lindsay and linebacker Bradley Chubb were able to make a seamless transition into the NFL.

Lindsay made history as the first undrafted offensive player to make the Pro Bowl as a rookie in league history. Meanwhile, Chubb broke linebacker Von Miller's rookie sack record with 12 last season. There is no question that both players have set the bar rather high for themselves. As a result, it seems Denver will not be tempering expectations for their development moving forward.
