The Denver Broncos will be kicking off the 2019 NFL season with an AFC West showdown against the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football. It seems running back Phillip Lindsay already has an idea of what it will take to come away with the win.

The Broncos face a daunting task having to go on the road to play in a primetime game for the season opener. According to Jon Heath of the Broncos Wire, Lindsay named the keys to victory that Denver must follow against Oakland.

“One, you can’t make mistakes,” Lindsay said. “That’s big. Crowd noise [and] everything — you’ve got to stay tuned in and you’ve got to make big plays. You’ve got to hold on to the football [and the] defense has to get some turnovers and that’s how you win games on the road.”

Lindsay added that the rivalry makes this game even more significant.

“It is a big game,” Lindsay said. “Monday night and the tradition between the Broncos and the Raiders has always been big. It’s going to be pumping. Now we’ve just got to go out there and execute.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Lindsay's comments. Although the Raiders have ushered in some significant changes in recent years, the Oakland Coliseum remains as raucous as ever. The Broncos will need to stay focused if they hope to get the season started off on the right foot.

It is safe to assume that Lindsay will be an integral p[art of making that happen. He emerged as one of the feel-good stories of the 2018 campaign after the undrafted Denver native became the team's new workhorse. He took full advantage of his opportunity by tallying 1,278 total yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns en route to Pro Bowl honors as a rookie.

Despite his promising season, Lindsay is motivated to prove that he is ready to kick things up a notch in Year 2.
