The NFL schedule makers knew exactly what they were doing when they set up a Week 1 matchup on Monday Night Football, featuring the Russell Wilson-led Denver Broncos against the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson was traded to the Broncos after spending 10 seasons with the Seahawks. The Super Bowl winning quarterback's departure wasn't exactly a rosy one either, as he and the franchise began to see things differently, even going back and forth about who initiated the trade.

While Wilson should hear many cheers when he takes the field in a visiting uniform in Seattle for the first time, he should also hear his fair share of boos. The Broncos quarterback was asked about the Week 1 matchup against the Seahawks, and he got honest, as reported by Nick Kosmider of The Athletic.

Wilson said that while the Week 1 game in Seattle will be “special”, he added that it must be “non-emotional.” While the Broncos star is going to say that he's keeping it about football, there's certainly some added motivation to go against the Seahawks, whether he admits it or not.

By the time Week 1 rolls around, the Broncos star may or may not hold feelings of animosity towards the Seahawks' organization. Even if he doesn't, the competitor in Wilson will provide him with even more motivation to show his former team what they'll be missing over the next several years.

While Wilson said the game must be “non-emotional”, that will be easier said than done as the highly anticipated 2022 NFL season-opener for the Broncos and Seahawks inches closer by the day.
