Denver Broncos linebacker is upset over being benched as a healthy scratch after Saturday evening's loss to the Cleveland Browns. The linebacker is unsure if he'll even get the opportunity to play in the Bronco's last two contests of the NFL's regular season. Ray, who the Broncos selected with the 23rd pick in the 2015 draft, has been disappointing production-wise this season and has hardly played any snaps.

Ray said he was told on Friday that he would not be in uniform for the game, which the Browns won, 17-16. It was the first time in Ray's four seasons with the Broncos that he was a healthy inactive.

Ray said to the media:

“Little disrespectful, but that's all good, I don't think I've been (a healthy) inactive in my whole career. Whatever reason they felt I need to be inactive, that's on them. (It's) been a frustrating two years … I come in, I go to work, I don't control what they do, that's all up on them. I just do what I do.”

Following the game, Broncos coach Vance Joseph was asked about Ray being inactive.

“We're playing the best players, trying to win a game. Simple as that.”

The Broncos did not pick up Ray's fifth-year option this past offseason. They then used the No. 5 pick in the 2018 NFL draft to select Bradley Chubb, who has started every game this season at outside linebacker alongside Von Miller. Chubb is second on the team with 12 sacks.

Ray had missed eight games last season with multiple wrist surgeries. This season he only has one sack this season and has only played 254 snaps with the defense.

Ray will be an unrestricted free agent next March.
