A few days ago, the Detroit Lions surprisingly released Theo Riddick. After being released, Riddick has visited multiple teams, including the Denver Broncos.

According to Mike Klis of KUSA, Theo Riddick left the Broncos' team facility without a contract. Denver doesn't have an absolute need at running back, but adding a weapon like Riddick could have been useful.

Riddick spent his first six seasons in the NFL with the Lions before being cut before training camp began. While with the Lions, Riddick was mainly utilized as a receiving threat out of the backfield.

In the past four seasons, Riddick has caught nearly 62 passes per season and 474 receiving yards per season. Therefore, whoever decides to sign Riddick is likely bringing him in to be used in a similar manner.

As for Denver, the team is crowded at the running back position, so it was surprising to see that the Broncos brought Riddick in for a visit. Besides Phillip Lindsay, the Broncos also have Royce Freeman, Devontae Booker, Devontae Jackson, Khalfani Muhammad, and Dave Williams.

This year, Lindsay is expected to be the featured running back; Freeman will receive some touches as well. It's also expected that Lindsay will be used more in the passing game in 2019.

Before arriving at the Broncos facility, Riddick had a scheduled visit with the New Orleans Saints. The veteran running back is taking some time to make his decision.
