There had been plenty of speculation regarding the health of linebacker Todd Davis going into the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, it appears he will be good to go in Week 1.

Davis has been recovering from a partially torn calf he suffered on the first day of training camp. According to NFL Network's James Palmer, he will be available for the season opener against the Oakland Raiders.

Broncos starting middle linebacker Todd Davis, who compiled 114 tackles for Denver last season, suffered a calf injury on the first day of camp and has been out ever since. He told me last night he'll be ready to go for their Week 1 opener vs Oakland on Monday night.

This is certainly an encouraging update for the Broncos. Davis emerged as an integral piece of this defense in recent years. It seems he will be healthy enough to resume his post once the regular season starts.

There is no question that Davis has come a long way in his recovery since suffering the injury in mid-June. It appears even the Broncos had doubts about whether or not he would be able to make his return after reports surfaced that they were interested in linebacker Paul Worrilow. Even though the deal with Worrilow fell through, all sides were still optimistic Davis would be back in time.

The former undrafted free agent is slated to start alongside linebacker Josey Jewell on the inside. Davis will be looking to lead the team in tackles for the third time in four years this season.
