Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph knew that some measures had to be done after seeing his team suffer its third-straight loss last Monday to the Kansas City Chiefs. One of them was naming Denver’s prodigal son Brock Osweiler as the team’s starting quarterback.

This is, at least for Week 9’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Oh yes, Denver. Brock is back.

Osweiler replaces Trevor Siemian, who almost single-handedly caused the Broncos’ skid by recording seven turnovers and compiling a 64.1 passer rating during Denver’s losing streak. Joseph decided that he’d seen enough of Siemian when the quarterback threw for only 198 yards and three interceptions in the loss to the Chiefs.

Joseph has yet to say for certain whether Osweiler is going to start in games beyond Week 9, but made it sound as though that’s the plan when asked about it.

Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk:

Vance Joseph stopped short of naming Brock Osweiler the starter for the rest of the season, but the Broncos coach admits as long as “Brock plays well, he plays next week. It’s very simple.”

Before returning to Mile High City, Osweiler played for the Houston Texans, whom he swindled for $72 million. He was traded by the Texans last March to the Cleveland Browns, but was later released after getting beaten by DeShone Kizer for the starting gig.

Now back in Denver, Osweiler wants to jumpstart his career by helping Denver’s offense recover from a slump.

Osweiler went 5-2 in 2015 as Denver’s starter and accumulated 1,967 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
