There is certainly plenty of truth to Joseph's comments. The NFL has largely evolved into a pass-happy league where quarterbacks pumping out 4,000-yard seasons has become a regular occurrence. As a result, the value of elite pass-rushers has skyrocketed as well. The fact that they are some of the highest-paid players outside of quarterbacks solidifies this notion. It appears Joseph is simply trying to get ahead of the curve.
Fortunately, Denver's personnel backs up his comments. Although it was not a particular strength last season, they managed to make some solid upgrades. Any discussion about elite pass-rushers always involves linebacker Von Miller. Miller has been the gold standard for the position for quite some time now and is showing no signs of slowing down. The Broncos were also able to add his potential protege in linebacker Bradley Chubb. They were able to land Chubb with the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and are hoping he can serve as a formidable 1-2 punch with Miller.
