The Denver Broncos are looking to bounce back from a loss in the 2020 season opener when they hit the road to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2. Unfortunately, it appears the offense may be shorthanded once again.

Head coach Vic Fangio gave an update on the status o wide receiver Courtland Sutton and running back Phillip Lindsay, per Brandon Krisztal of KOA Colorado:

“I don’t think Phillip will make it this week, Courtland is questionable…he’ll probably be a gameday decision as to if he’ll make it or not.”

Sutton suffered a sprained AC joint in practice leading up to Week 1. Although there was still some optimism regarding his status against the Tennessee Titans, Denver opted to take a cautious approach by having him sit out. It seems quarterback Drew Lock could very well have his top target in the passing game making his return this week.

Lindsay suffered a turf toe injury during the 16-14 loss to the Titans on “Monday Night Football.” Given the physical nature of his position, Fangio's comments indicate that they are going to give him extra time to recover before getting back in the mix.

Fortunately, the Broncos took action to ensure they would have a solid contingency plan in running back Melvin Gordon. Gordon rushed for 5.2 yards per carry last week and is now slated to handle a full workload out of the backfield. It will be interesting to see how he fares in a workhorse role now that Lindsay is potentially expected to miss a couple more games.
