Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has long been considered one of the NFL's premier pass rushers. Regardless, head coach Vic Fangio is hoping to help him kick things up a notch in the 2019 NFL season.

There is plenty of optimism surrounding the arrival of Fangio from his stint as defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears. According to Aric DiLalla of the team's official website, he feels any improvement from Miller would be just what this Denver team needs in 2019:

“I think he’s got more to give,” Fangio said. “I think we can make him be a better player. He’s got to make himself be a better player — let me rephrase that — with us guiding him and being a resource for him. I think he has more in him that he can even be better and better. He’s a guy that should be in the mention for player of the year awards and stuff like that. If we can get him to improve, to do all the little things correctly — and not that he hasn’t in the past, but improve it — and just become a little bit better, with a guy of his talent level, a little bit ends up being a lot.”

Fangio's comments appear to be in line with Miller's expectations for himself moving forward. He has not been shy about expressing his pursuit of some of the NFL's all-time sack records. It is safe to say that his sentiments have caught the attention of other elite pass rushers around the league.

Fangio helped turn the Bears defense into one of the most formidable units in the NFL during the 2018 campaign. Fortunately, he is inheriting a team that boasts a similar crop of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Of course, everything will continue to flow through Miller and his play could determine whether or not Denver is able to bounce back from their recent struggles.
