Joe Flacco made it pretty clear on Monday that he isn't with the Denver Broncos to teach Drew Lock and coach Vic Fangio echoed those thoughts. Fangio knows that Flacco is also learning the system and instead of Flacco teaching Lock, Fangio says that Lock must go out of his way to learn from him.

“That’s on Drew to soak in and learn,” Fangio said via 247 Sports. “Joe’s learning a new system himself. As we move along there will be more interaction and they’ll get to know each other but primarily it’s on Drew to learn.”

This still seems like it will work out better than the Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre system because it appears that Flacco doesn't despise Lock, but he knows he came here to win football games, not to groom his replacement. Although Favre and Rodgers worked out on the field, behind the scenes there were a lot of issues.

“Obviously, that’s one situation that you alluded to that I think he [Aaron Rodgers] was there for three years before he played,” Fangio said on Monday. “Then you had the [Drew] Brees-[Philip] Rivers one where they just let Brees go in free agency. I don’t think any one model is applicable. Every situation’s a little different. All history tells you with certainty is what’s happened in the past, not what’s going to happen in the future. So we’ll see.”

The hope is that Lock is the future of this team after Flacco is gone, and everything that the former Missouri quarterback can learn from the starter is going to be important in his development.
