Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio has a new offensive coordinator with the 2019 season coming and going in a hurry for the middling AFC West franchise. With Fangio now officially gearing up for his second season at the helm in Denver, the Broncos have formally announced that former New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur will serve as the team's next offensive coordinator.

As a result of such a hire, Fangio had some high praise for the former Giants head coach in Shurmur.

“Pat is an established play-caller with significant experience leading an offense as both a coordinator and head coach,” Fangio said of Shurmur via the team's official website. “Having coached against Pat for a number of years, he’s always impressed me. His track record of developing younger players is outstanding. Pat brings a collaborative approach to working with the staff as well as a flexibility to adjust the offense to our players and opponents. We’re excited to add someone of his caliber to our coaching staff.”

Prior to serving as the Giants head coach for the last two seasons, Shurmur was the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. Shurmur was notably let go by the Giants after New York struggled through both seasons in which the newest Broncos coach led the way. It is also worth noting that Shurmur actually has two NFL head coach stints under his belt as he previously led the Cleveland Browns for two seasons in 2011 and 2012.

Fangio underwhelmed in his first season in Denver too as the Broncos finished the year with a 7-9 record.
