The Denver Broncos, coached by Vic Fangio, are the first team to begin their training camp in 2019. Among the players who are returning from injury, Phillip Lindsay took the field during practice.

After the first day of training camp, Vic Fangio said Lindsay “looked good” in practice. Lindsay suffered a wrist injury at the end of the 2018 season and is gradually returning to being 100 percent.

“He looked good,” Fangio said, via the team’s website. “He looked about like I thought he would — or about what I hoped he would, is probably a better phrase. He had a wrist injury — an unusual wrist injury — so he had his legs. [I] probably shouldn’t be surprised. He was champing at the bit to get out there.”

Last season, Lindsay was a feel-good story after he made the Broncos' roster as an undrafted free agent. Furthermore, Lindsay won the starting job and had a historic rookie campaign in 2018.

Among his records, Lindsay was the third undrafted running back in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 rushing yards. He also was the first undrafted running back in NFL history to make a Pro Bowl.

Last offseason, it was expected that Royce Freeman would share the workload with Lindsay, but Freeman gradually got fewer touches in the offense. Lindsay had 227 touches to Freeman's 144 touches in 2018.

Heading into 2019, Lindsay is expected to have an impressive sophomore season next to Joe Flacco. Fangio is hoping to get similar production from Lindsay this season to propel the offense again.
