Emmanuel Sanders is part of what the Denver Broncos are trying to achieve. Vic Fangio is confident Sanders will be there when the Broncos need him.

The Denver Broncos are heading into a pivotal season. Once one of the league's few consistent winners has fallen on hard times since Peyton Manning retired. They've missed the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, and they desperately need to get back to winning.

To do so, they'll need a big year from their receiver corps in their first year with Joe Flacco. They have some intriguing young talent in Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton, but they really have only one proven veteran, Emmanuel Sanders. The team traded Demaryius Thomas last season, leaving Sanders as the only member of the group who has been in Denver for a while.

Sanders was having a very productive year with Case Keenum last season before his campaign was ended by an Achilles tear. It's always a long road back for Achilles injuries, but the Broncos are apparently optimistic about his recovery.

“I got no medical basis for this, but I think he’ll be back before people think,” new Broncos coach Vic Fangio declared recently, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. That's a classic Fangio comment, as the coach is very old school. After firing Vance Joseph, the Broncos hired Fangio away from the Bears to become their new leader.

In 12 games before going down last year, Sanders had 71 catches for 868 yards and four touchdowns. That was a big improvement from his down 2017 season, which was good to see. That being said, he's 32 now and coming off a devastating injury. It'll be very interesting to see what he looks like when he comes back.
