The NFL season is finally upon us after the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio between the Broncos and Falcons. It was the head coaching debut of Vic Fangio, who put together a 14-10 preseason win. A solid start for Fangio in this new chapter of his career.

However, he still had many criticisms to make, including the fact that he wanted more out of his second-round rookie quarterback, Drew Lock.

“I was hoping for more, but [I’m] not surprised,” Fangio said per the team's official website. “He’s still got a lot of work to do. I thought his accuracy wasn’t clean all the time along with his reads, but that’s to be expected. We’ve got four more games and we’ve got to get him ready — more ready than he is right now.”

The Missouri product completed seven of his eleven passes for 34 yards. In turn, Lock agreed with his coach that he has some work to do before the regular season starts.

“I feel like if I hit a couple of those passes, then I’d feel a little better about the game, but there’s definitely things I’ll need to work on after watching the film.”

Despite his own critiques, the rookie remains optimistic for his game the following week on August 8th.

“It was the Hall of Fame game. It wasn’t the Super Bowl, it wasn’t the playoffs — so there’s a lot of things for me to learn, a lot of things for me to look forward to, to progress a little bit.”

Vic Fangio will be looking to get more out of Drew Lock with the upcoming game against the Seattle Seahawks next Thursday.
