New Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio believes Von Miller's best days are ahead of him.

This was what Fangio told ESPN's Jeff Legwold (via 247Sports.com's Doc Bear) last March.

I do really believe as good as Von has played in his career – and he has done some really, really good things – he can play even better.

Fangio was the defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears from 2015 to 2018. He inherits a Broncos defense with Miller and second-year pass rusher Bradley Chubb as the centerpieces.

With Fangio at the helm, the Bears “led the league in scoring defense, interceptions, and takeaways while finishing tied for third in sacks,” per Legwold. Former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack was at front and center of Chicago's dominant defense last season.

Fangio certainly hopes that trend will continue with Miller and Chubb in Denver.

For his part, Miller told Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official website last month he's aiming for a 20-sack season in 2019.

I feel like I haven't even made it halfway yet. I'm going on nine [seasons]. We had Bruce Smith at our pass-rush summit and I talked to him about it a little bit.

He played 20 years and averaged 10 sacks a season. That's right where I'm at with it. Hopefully, I can get one of those 20-sack seasons. If I can get one of those in, it'll put me ahead of the pace. I'm still feeling good.

The 30-year-old Miller has recorded 98.5 sacks to date. That doesn't even include his postseason total of 6.5, per DiLalia.

The Broncos finished with a 6-10 win-loss record in 2018. They missed the postseason for the third straight year. Fangio and Co. aim to turn things around with a rejuvenated Von Miller leading the Broncos' defense.
