Denver Broncos EDGE rusher Von Miller has tested positive for coronavirus, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Rapoport also noted Miller “plans to speak publicly” to address his condition on Friday.

Miller becomes the second known player to test positive for coronavirus after Los Angeles Rams center Brian Allen tested positive on Wednesday. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton previously tested positive in March and has since been cleared.

While the NBA had seen the most notable spike in positive cases with respect to their players and team staffers, it seemed a matter of time before the illness began to impact members of the football ranks.

The NFL has had the good fortune of being in their offseason period amid the current spread of the pandemic, though it has still influenced a number of league measures.

Players were unable to travel for physicals during a free agency, though that has only proved a minor inconvenience thus far. The more notable change is the status of the 2020 NFL Draft, which will be conducted on a virtual level as team facilities are all shut down.

Perhaps Allen and Miller's positive tests will also reinforce a greater sense of caution among other players throughout the league. While most players seem to be taking the issue seriously, there are outliers, like Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

Prescott and former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant violated a “stay at home” order in Dallas County by working out at a gym last week, and Prescott since hosted a house party that has led to all sorts of confusion.

In any case, it is encouraging to hear Miller is in stable condition, and hopefully, he can better inform his peers and fans with his statement tomorrow.
