There are plenty of premier pass-rushers in the NFL this season, but Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller took the lead in sacks after his last game. Miller is one of the league's highest paid defensive players, and rightfully so. He helped his team crush the Arizona Cardinals 45-10 on Thursday night. Miller recorded two of his team's six total sacks. Broncos head coach Vance Joseph was pumped to see him perform at such a high level.

“Von’s (at) his best when we’re playing with a lead,” said Joseph. “That’s never going to change. I’m not surprised he won a lot (on Thursday).”

“I was proud how he played the game,” Joseph continued. “You can speak those words, but you’ve got to back them up and he did that. His teammates also backed him up.”

Von Miller now has a total of 7.5 sacks for the Broncos this season. J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans and Danielle Hunter of the Minnesota Vikings each trail Miller by half a sack. Miller has been especially good lately. He has recorded at least one sack in each of previous two games. Before that, he was sackless for three consecutive games. He feels that it's his duty to get to the quarterback consistently. When he does, the Broncos are tough to beat.

“I feel like I need to get sacks each and every week,” said Miller.

He had been receiving some criticism for his lackluster performance, but he knew his teammates would always support him and be confident in his talent. It was only a matter of time.

The Broncos will have a much tougher test next Sunday, when they take on the 5-1 Kansas City Chiefs. They lost 27-23 in their first matchup, so the Broncos want to avoid getting swept in the regular season. If Miller gets on a role, he'll be able to rattle Patrick Mahomes and help his team stay competitive.
