Denver Broncos star Von Miller delivered quite the message earlier this week when he guaranteed that the Broncos would kick the Arizona Cardinals’ ass on Thursday Night Football. Lo and behold, Miller and the Broncos backed up his big talk as they crushed the Cards, 45-10.

Obviously, everyone was eager to hear what Miller had to say next after being emphatically proven right. But instead of gloating, Miller just seemed relieved to put the whole thing behind him.

“It’s over with,” Miller said per the team’s official website. “Honestly, it puts a whole lot of pressure on me.”

Miller also went on to explain that his incendiary comments were not meant as a shot to the Cardinals but were instead meant to fire up his team.

“Honestly, it wasn't even for the Cardinals,” Miller said. “It was for my teammates. It was just to put us in that mentality [of] ain't no backing down now. I think we have a great football team. We have great leadership: great GM, great owner, great coaches. We've got great players. And I just thought what we were missing is the confidence part of it. I thought about it. That's not even like me. That's not like me.

“But I thought it was the best thing to do to get my teammates going, and it’s great. It worked.”

While Miller and the Broncos successfully brought it against one of, if not the worst team in the entire league, the challenge will be to sustain that type of play moving forward. They face an especially tough stretch over the next month as they face the Chiefs, Texans, Chargers, Steelers, and Bengals.

Miller likely won’t go out and say the Broncos will kick any of those teams’ butts. But if the Broncos can win a good number of those games, Miller should be more than satisfied.
