Brandon Allen's debut under center for the Denver Broncos on Sunday ended in success, as the Broncos came away with a 24-19 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Allen didn't put up big numbers, completing 12 of his 20 passes for 193 yards and a couple of touchdowns, but he did enough to get Denver a victory, and star pass rusher Von Miller praised him after the game:

“I called it at the beginning of the week,” Miller said, according to Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' team website. “I said, ‘He’s going to give us the magic. He’s going to be ready to go.’ He was cold in college, and I just knew if he got an opportunity, he’d be good. There’s a lot of talented guys in the National Football League and it was great to have him step up for us and give us a boost. He was incredible today.”

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio was not as effusive in his assessment of Allen as Miller, but he was still complimentary of the quarterback:

“He did well,” said Fangio. “I thought he ran the offense well, showed a little mobility, made some good throws, missed a few too. We’re not ready to put him in Canton yet, but overall [we’re] pleased with the way he played.”

With Joe Flacco now on the injured reserve list, Allen will likely get plenty of more opportunities to show his stuff for the remainder of the season, even with rookie signal-caller Drew Lock also on the roster.

Allen entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, but Sunday marked the first actual action of his pro career.

The Broncos are 3-6 and are now in their bye week. They will take on the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 17.
