The Denver Broncos have made headlines after trading for Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback AJ Bouye in exchange for a fourth-round pick. Cornerback Chris Harris Jr. was among the first players to congratulate Bouye on the news on Twitter.

Harris is set to test the market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. According to Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post, the Broncos could still look to pair him with Bouye in the secondary:

Per Broncos source, don't close door on CB Chris Harris re-signing.

The arrival of Bouye had seemingly sealed Harris' fate that he would be on his way out in free agency. After all, the Broncos already spent big money on the position when they signed cornerback Bryce Callahan to a three-year, $21 million deal last offseason. Unfortunately, Callahan still has yet two provide any bang for his buck after being sidelined for the entire 2019 NFL Season with a foot injury.

The prospect of assembling a Pro Bowl-caliber tandem on the outside is certainly an intriguing one for Denver. The fact that Harris even took to social media to wish Bouye the best can also be interpreted as a glimmer of hope for optimistic fans. Of course, it remains to be seen just how willing general manager John Elway is to make it come to fruition.

Bouye has already expressed how excited he is to get acclimated with head coach Vic Fangio's defense. It is safe to say that linking up with a player of Harris' caliber would only solidify this notion.
