With the Denver Broncos preparing to fire head coach Vance Joseph, they will have to begin their search for a new coach. Apparently, they have already zeroed in on their top target.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Broncos are hoping to interview Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

Remember, Gary Kubiak is now an executive in Denver's front office, and he worked very closely with Harbaugh as the Ravens' offensive coordinator.

Harbaugh has just one year left on his deal with the Ravens and will not be agreeing to any short-term extensions, meaning he could be on the market much sooner than we think.

Baltimore has not made any attempt to extend Harbaugh's contract, and the Ravens will also be operating with a new general manager (Eric DeCosta) next season with Ozzie Newsome retiring.

And you know what happens when a new GM comes in: generally, the general manager likes to pick his own head coach, meaning that Harbaugh could be on his way out.

Harbaugh has coached the Ravens to a 9-6 record through 15 games this season and is coming off of a huge win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night. Should Baltimore defeat the Cleveland Browns next week, it will wrap up a playoff spot, and it has a chance of winning the AFC North if the Pittsburgh Steelers drop one of their next two games.

The Broncos are currently 6-8 and will miss the playoffs for the third straight season after making it five years in a row between 2011 and 2015, including a Super Bowl title during the 2015-16 campaign.
