With the 2018 NFL Draft just days away, teams are clamoring for position to take one of the many top quarterback prospects. As a result, it seems the Denver Broncos, who currently own the fifth pick, are looking to capitalize on the high demand for an early pick and trade down.

But according to NFL Network's James Palmer, President of Football Operations John Elway is still keeping his options open on what to do with their selection, which also includes possibly trading up:

Starting Monday the Broncos are going through hypothetical scenarios that involve trading out of the draft's No. 5 spot. While most speculation has centered on the possibility of John Elway trading down to collect picks, he's also open to a trade up.

The report may seem like a bit of a surprise since the Broncos have been linked to trades down in the draft, not up. However, they could still potentially be in search of a long-term solution at quarterback and may be willing to go up and take one.

But if not, the possibility of them just trading down remains very much open. There are a number of other quarterback-hungry teams set to pick ahead of the Broncos. That said, Denver may just cut their losses and trade down if the player they really like is off the board.

Fortunately, their prospects bode well since there are several teams looking to move up like the Buffalo Bills. The Broncos have several needs they must address before the start of the 2018 NFL season. Stocking up on more picks would certainly make sense if the quarterback they want is unavailable.
