Back in 2016, the Denver Broncos took a chance on quarterback Paxton Lynch as they prepared for the post-Peyton Manning era. The team selected Lynch 26th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft with high hopes of the Memphis product being their future franchise quarterback.

Unfortunately, two years later, Lynch is now looking for work after being released by the team. Denver chose to move forward with Chad Kelly as their backup behind starter and newcomer, Case Keenum. Reportedly, prior to parting ways with Lynch, the Broncos attempted to trade the struggling quarterback to the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers, according to Mike Klis of 9 News.

Before the Cowboys selected Dak Prescott in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, owner Jerry Jones had his sights set on drafting Lynch. Dallas appears to have lucked out by having the Broncos taking him in the first round while Prescott proved to be a star right out of the gate for the Cowboys leading the team to the No. 1 seed in the NFC and unseating Tony Romo as the starter in his first year.

As for the Broncos, John Elway and company seem to be content with Kelly as Keenum's backup moving forward. Denver has found it difficult to replace Manning since his retirement going through Brock Osweiler, Trevor Siemian, and Lynch only to sign Keenum in free agency this offseason.

In his two seasons with the Broncos, Lynch played in only five games. The former first-round pick threw for 792 yards, 4 touchdowns, and four interceptions finishing with an averaging completion percentage of 61.7.
