Prior to being traded from the New York Giants to the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. apparently had interest in joining the Denver Broncos, according to Charles Robinson on Yahoo Sports.

Now, his top choice was the Browns, but it is interesting that Beckham would have the Broncos on his list given Denver's shaky quarterback situation.

Robinson reports that Beckham is close with Broncos linebacker Von Miller, which would explain his interest, but the Browns unquestionably seem like a better fit with Baker Mayfield throwing him the football.

Beckham signed a six-year, $95 million contract extension with the Giants last summer, an indication that the wide out was, indeed, going to remain in New York for the long haul.

Earlier in the offseason, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman said multiple times that the team did not re-sign Beckham just to trade him in spite of rumors that stated otherwise.

Apparently, the rumors proved correct, as New York ultimately traded Beckham to Cleveland for safety Jabrill Peppers and a couple of draft picks.

Beckham is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played in 12 games, missing the last four games of the season with a quad injury. When he was on the field, he hauled in 77 receptions for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Giants in the first round (12th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons, but over the last two years, Beckham has played in just 16 games combined due to injury issues.
