The Chicago Bears are releasing cornerback Prince Amukamara, but the veteran may already have his sights set on his next destination.

According to Ryan Koenigsberg of DNVR Sports, Amukamara has interest in joining the Denver Broncos, where he could reunite with Vic Fangio.

Fangio, who is the Broncos' head coach, served as Amukamara's defensive coordinator in Chicago for Amukamara's first two years with the club in 2017 and 2018.

Perhaps not so coincidentally, Amukamara had arguably the best season of his NFL career in 2018, playing in 15 games and racking up 66 tackles, three interceptions, a couple of forced fumbles, 12 passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

With fellow cornerback Chris Harris Jr. seeming to be on his way out of Denver, Amukamara could definitely make sense for Fangio and the Broncos.

Amukamara, who played his collegiate football at the University of Nebraska, was originally selected by the New York Giants in the first round (19th pick overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.

While the 30-year-old flashed promise with the Giants, he was unable to stay healthy, as he played in just one full 16-game campaign during his time in New York and played in just 55 of a possible 80 regular-season games.

The Glendale, Az. native then linked up with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, spending one season with the club before signing with the Bears in March 2017.

Initially, Amukamara inked a one-year deal with Chicago, but the Bears were so impressed with his play in 2017 that they handed him a three-year extension that ensuing offseason.

The Broncos went 7-9 in 2019.
