Denver Broncos rookie tight end Jake Butt, while at Michigan, was presumed to be one of the better all-around players at his position. Then, because college football greed and money, he was hurt in what was a glorified exhibition game.

Jake Butt has been paying the price ever since, and now it appears as though the Broncos will be without his services until at least the midway point of the National Football Leauge season.

When first-year Denver coach Vance Joseph was asked if his young tight end wouldn't be available this week, here is what he had to say:

“Yes, absolutely,” Joseph said when asked if Butt is unlikely to play this week in a streamed presser. “He hasn’t played enough football to play an NFL game. Hopefully he continues to get in football shape and he can play next week or the week after.”

While Joseph isn't completely sure how he will use Jake Butt upon his clearance, he does seem excited to figure it out on the fly.

“We’re not sure, but we drafted Jake because he was a playmaker,” Joseph explained when asked about Butt’s role in Denver’s offense. “He was a blocker also and that’s rare to find a young tight end who can block and catch balls. He’s a big target, he can run vertically and he has great ball skills. That’s what he was in college. He hasn’t played enough for us to know what he is now.”

America is only a few more weeks away from being able to make Butt jokes.
