Despite coming off a league-worst record of 20-62, Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez still considers it as a success for the positives that resulted from it.

When asked how he feels with the Nets' lack of wins, the 29-year-old Stanford product admitted, via Randolph Leongson of Inquirer.net, that he feels the team is heading to the right direction, especially with how he and his teammates have grown as professionals. He also added that the foundation is already there and they just need to figure out how to sustain it and be more successful in the future.

“I think there’s a lot of positivity. Our record wasn’t spectacular, but we all felt we grew a lot, we really improved, and our team never showed any quit. Those are important things to have. We believe we’re building that foundation and it’s in place and we can do something down the line if we continue to play for one another.

“Moving forward, I’m just all in, trying to do all I can to help my team be successful. We’ve got a great group of guys who really have that team-first attitude and we really believe that we can do something special as long as we put the effort out and we put the work in.”

Lopez was part of a lot of trade rumors, but still finished the season wearing a Nets jersey. His statement is definitely good news for the Brooklyn faithful as their former All-Star starting center remains optimistic of their teams chances of once again being a winning group.

Should he continue to play for the team and their front office will be able to add key pieces to their roster in free agency, the Nets might just surprise a lot of people next season and start winning more games. Although it could be a shock to many, Lopez and his teammates won't think of it as such as they'll consider it as a reward for not giving up on their team, and giving their best effort night in and night out, even with the odds stacked against them.
