Brooklyn Nets reportedly open to discussing Brook Lopez trade
Despite an incredibly successful Wednesday night for Brook Lopez , in which his Brooklyn Nets team bagged their second win of the season and he picked up 34 points, the 7-footer just can’t stay out of the rumor mill.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN, rival executives believe that the Nets front office are open to discussing a deal that takes Lopez away from Brooklyn before the February deadline. As with most deals however, the offer has to be the right one.
The Boston Celtics were initially believed to be interested but sources closer to Danny Ainge’s staff have rebuked the claims. The reasons for Boston’s disinterest may be due to the free agency addition of Al Horford, but it remains a possibility.
Lopez’s career has been marred by foot troubles that have prevented him from featuring for large portion of his Nets tenure and perhaps stunted his development. However, the Californian native featured in 73 games last year and has recently shown signs of expanding his shooting range.
Whilst ESPN’s sources have suggested that Nets are only flirting with the idea of trading the 28-year-old, it may be worth keep your eye on if your NBA team requires a skilled big.
